Duesenberg Starplayer DJP-SP Silver Sparkle 2002
Duesenberg DJP-SP Starplayer in sliver sparkle, made in Germany 2002 approx. These were a limited run model for the Japan market only, they never made it to a worldwide audience. Some of the 'bling' from the flagship Starplayer TV is missing, but this was designed as a reasonably-priced entrant into a crowded market. The appointments are nice: Duesenberg humbuckers with coil-tap, Kluson tuners, D-branded Bigsby style trem... all on a tasty semi-hollow mahogany body. Being a mahogany body, there's a darker edge to the tone than some other Duesenberg models, but it's still got that hi-fi 'ping' and clarity that's endeared these to their loyal fans; if you're a fan of the Jazzmaster tone, you'll likely enjoy this very much. The trademark build quality and classy feel is all there; there's a certain assuredness in the hands that's very appealing. All the previous examples of this model we've had or seen have been green, the silver sparkle is a super cool and unusual touch; very cool. It's got a few knocks and bruises, but if you'd owned this guitar in it's previous life, you would've played it nonstop too, right? This is an awesome and affordable way to join the Dues-club; and my, what a great club to be in it is!

Neck: rock maple, rosewood board, 25.5" scale, 15" radius
Mods: knobs replaced, one tuner replaced, metal section of guard removed
Pickups: Duesenberg 'Grand Vintage' humbuckers, splittable
Case: used hardcase, basic but reasonable, good quality and condition
Cosmetic condition notes: mild finish wear. Headstock and neck are pretty clean. Back has some widespread but light and shallow 'buckle rash' scratches, no major marks though. Sides have a few little marks: top horn and shoulder have a couple of very minor scratches, some dimples near the rear strap pin and a scuff and a pair of minor chips near the input jack. The front is pretty clean, just some circular scratches on the 'D' logo on the top horn, some minor dimples on the shoulder and some extra holes where the metal section of the guard has been removed. Overall: very good condition (8/10).
Playing condition notes: Neck is straight, action is low, intonation is good, truss rod works. All electrics tested and working properly. Frets look pretty good wiht minor wear only, 8/10. Wearing fresh 11/49s.
