Fender Japan '62 Precision Bass PB62-53 Candy Apple Red 2003
Fender '62 Precision, candy apple red, crafted in Japan 2002-4. It's been a while since we had a sleek candy apple P, I forgot how slick they look. This one dates to the mid-00s and is a classy little understated over-achiever. First up, it's lightweight at a whisker under 4kg. The body resonates enthusiastically with the lightest touch, it's nice to feel the notes ringing around in your hands. The neck is a classic moderate C shape, it's beefy enough to feel full in the hands without being a tree trunk and features some really pretty streaky rosewood on the board. The tone is punchy, full and thick with a defined and fast low end and a growly midrange... it's definitely in the classic-P genre but does the trick really convincingly. This is a superb working player's bass, it just works.

Cosmetic condition notes: minor finish wear. Headstock has some minor marks on the end and bottom edge. The neck is clean and smooth in the hands, no major marks. The back has a couple of minor dents near the back edge and on the bottom corner, the sides have minor dimples in the elbow, near the jack and on the bottom horn, no major marks. The front has a ding near the jack, some scuffs in the elbow area and some light play wear on the guard and horns, no major marks. Overall: very good condition (8/10)
Playing condition notes: Action is low, neck is straight, intonation is good, truss rod works. All electrics tested and working properly, although the pickup height adjustment screws are a bit stiff. The frets are in good shape and are freshly polished, 9/10 for fret life left. Set up with fresh 45/105 Moonshiners Strings.
