Maton CW80/6 Custom Gloss Dreadnought Acoustic 1996

Maton CW80, gloss natural, made in Australia 1996. The CW80, or Country & Western, is Maton's most iconic model, it's been in production for many decades and has found favour with everyone's favourite uncle Paul Kelly, among many others. This one was a limited run version: the 'Custom Gloss' edition got a nice shiny coat of thin gloss nitro, some gorgeous figured Queensland maple for the back and sides and a classy keyhole headstock with a figured Victorian blackwood faceplate. The book matched spruce top is classy too: it's very tightly grained, and pretty too. The tone on offer is classic Maton goodness: crisp clarity, dry midrange, tuneful understated bass. This would record beautifully, as it's got a certain tonal tidiness that would sit nicely in a mix. This has barely been played, so it's a cool opportunity to score a Maton that's thirty years old but looks more like thirty days old. Both kinds!

Cosmetic condition notes: minor finish wear. The headstock has no major marks. The is clean and smooth in the hands, minor rub wear on the back only. The back has minor scuffs on the shoulders and elbow area. The sides have minor dimples in the elbow area. The front has minor play wear on the guard and horns.
Overall: excellent condition (9/10)

Playing condition notes: Action is reasonably low, neck is straight, intonation is good. Wearing fresh 12/54 Moonshiners phosphor bronze strings.
Fret life: 9/10, minor wear only
