Yamaha FG-300M Dreadnought Acoustic Japan 1973
Yamaha FG-300M, made in Japan circa 1975, natural gloss finish. This is a lovely vintage dreadnought and a great example of the long running 'Folk Guitar', or FG series. This one is a 'black label' Japanese-made example from the mid-70s, with a tidy solid spruce top. It's got a comfy round neck, sturdy hardware and has weathered the decades nicely, sporting a straight neck and a flat top. The tone on offer represents vintage Yamaha dreadnoughts well: clear and bright with a full midrange and a tuneful, understated bass. It's a nice little strummer, chords come out in crisp detail without being harsh or thin. The attractive honey colouring on the top adds some depth to the subtle spruce grain lines; it's an understated by classy looking thing too. Nice stuff.

Cosmetic condition notes: minor finish wear. The headstock has some dimples on the end and back. The neck is clean and smooth in the hands, minor dimples and rub wear on the back only. The back has widespread light scuffs around the whole body, no major marks. The sides have minor scuffs around the whole body, no major marks. The front has some discolouration and scuffs along the back edge, some surface scratches in the bottom corner, dimples in the elbow area and some play wear on the guard and shoulders. Overall: very good condition (7.5/10).
Playing condition notes: action is moderately low, neck is straight, intonation is good, truss rod works. The frets look have some normal wear but are in good shape, 7/10 for fret life left. Wearing fresh 12/54 Moonshiners strings.
